Just another day in Cutsville

Every other day, you see something in the news about bus services being cut all across the UK, or that prices are going up like a big balloon. And it’s true; there are changes afoot because of the many cuts in local councils up and down the country.

But it isn’t just happening here in the UK, but also in other countries around the world.

In Gisborne, New Zealand, a recommendation has been put forward to cut bus services from 7am to 6pm, to 8:30am to 3:30pm!! Bad enough that the last bus is 6pm now.  Just imagine how many people will be put off public transport when the last bus is at 3:30pm?

In Seoul, Korea, bus prices went up 16.7%. In Winnipeg (somewhere in America), bus prices were hiked up by 20%! In Fresno, California, there are stories that they will soon lose all their publicly funded school bus services.

I was reading another report about a country that pushed up their bus fares by 40%. 40%!! That’s a serious increase.

We have to remember that however bad we have it here in the UK, somewhere else has it even worst.

On a separate note: I’ve been a bit lax in my blogging of late. Been a bit busy with the day time job; but I hope to keep writing something at least two or three times a week.
